1 civilian martyred, woman injured in Pakistani fire in Kunar, Paktika: IEA

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) says Pakistani forces once again opened fire on civilians in the eastern Kunar and southeastern Paktika on Sunday, martyring one person and injuring a woman.

Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the IEA, said in a post on X that Pakistani forces fired mortar rounds at around 9:30 a.m. on the Shanpat area of Naray district in Kunar province.

According to him, one civilian was martyred and a woman was wounded in the attack.

Fitrat also stated that Pakistani forces fired on a civilian vehicle in the Shkin district of Paktika province, though no casualties were reported in that incident.

The developments come despite a ceasefire announced by Afghanistan and Pakistan on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

However, the IEA claims that Pakistani forces have repeatedly violated the ceasefire and carried out attacks in Kunar and Nuristan during the Eid period, resulting in civilian casualties.
