KABUL (Pajhwok): US President Donald Trump has ordered a halt to planned attacks on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure, media reports said.
Trump had warned on Sunday that if Iran did not fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours without any threat, the US would target the country’s power plants. In response, the Iranian military stated that any attack on its energy facilities would prompt retaliation against all US energy infrastructure in the region.
According to Al Jazeera, Trump said the US had “good and productive conversations” with Iran and has ordered the postponement of strikes against Iranian energy facilities.
Reports indicate the postponement is for five days, pending the outcome of ongoing discussions.
The report stated that Trump has instructed the military to postpone any attacks on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure.
The report added that Trump has delayed attacks on Iran’s energy facilities for five days.
In a post on TruthSocial all in capital letters, reproduced here in full and verbatim, he says: “I AM PLEASE TO REPORT THAT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THE COUNTRY OF IRAN, HAVE HAD, OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS REGARDING A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESOLUTION OF OUR HOSTILITIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
“BASED ON THE TENOR AND TONE OF THESE IN DEPTH, DETAILED, AND CONSTRUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS, WITCH WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, I HAVE INSTRUCTED THE DEPARTMENT OF WAR TO POSTPONE ANY AND ALL MILITARY STRIKES AGAINST IRANIAN POWER PLANTS AND ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR A FIVE DAY PERIOD, SUBJECT TO THE SUCCESS OF THE ONGOING MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP”
So far, Iran has not made any official statement on the matter.
