HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A 580-type bus overturned into water along the “Bar Lakhshak” route in Zawal district of western Herat province, but all passengers were rescued and several sustained minor injuries and were transferred to nearby health centres.
The incident occurred on Saturday along the “Bar Lakhshak” route in Zawal district.
Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesperson for the Herat provincial authorities, told Pajhwok Afghan News that, upon receiving the report, civilian and military officials from Zawal district were immediately dispatched to the scene and rescue operations were promptly launched.
Saeedi added that, thanks to the timely and coordinated efforts of district officials, all passengers were safely pulled from the water.
He further stated that there were no fatalities, although several individuals with minor injuries were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The incident comes after recent heavy rainfall and an increased risk of flash floods, prompting the Herat local administration to issue a notice advising residents to avoid travelling on certain routes and flood-prone areas to safeguard lives and prevent potential accidents.
