KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 14 people were killed and 17 others wounded in rain-related incidents across the country over the past 24 hours, an official said on Tuesday.
The casualties resulted from floods, landslides and lightning strikes, the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) said in a statement.
It said 476 houses were damaged and a total of 603 families affected during the period.
The statement added that 711.5 acres of agricultural land, 16 shops, 23 water wells and several water supply networks were also destroyed.
Hafiz Mohammad Yousaf Hammad, spokesman for ANDMA, said on Monday that since March 25, rain, floods, landslides and lightning had killed 28 people and injured 49 others in Kabul, Kapisa, Parwan, Panjsher, Bamyan, Daikundi, Paktia, Paktika, Logar, Zabul, Kandahar, Helmand, Herat, Ghor, Balkh, Badghis, Samangan, Sar-i-Pul, Baghlan, Takhar, Jawzjan, Faryab, Badakhshan, Nangarhar and Laghman provinces.
