Polio vaccination drive begins in 31 provinces today

KABUL (Pajhwok): The “Polio-Free Afghanistan” initiative has announced that a polio vaccination campaign began on Monday across 31 provinces of the country.

In a post on its X, the Polio-Free Afghanistan Foundation said the campaign will be conducted in Ghor province one week later, while it has been postponed in Daikundi and Bamyan provinces due to cold weather conditions.

The foundation urged parents, saying: “Vaccinate your children; make Afghanistan safe and bright!”

Two days earlier, the Ministry of Public Health said that in the first round of the spring polio vaccination campaign—planned for most provinces—around 12.6 million children under the age of five are expected to be immunised.
