KABUL (Pajhwok): Official sources say that Wahidullah Asghari, the former head of Afghanistan’s National Snooker Federation, was killed in Kabul city after being abducted near his home.
Shakib Sakhi, secretary-general of the National Snooker Federation, confirmed to the media that Wahidullah Asghari was abducted by unknown individuals on Tuesday this week near his residence in Qala-i-Fathullah, Kabul city.
According to him, Asghari’s body was handed over to his family by the forensic medicine department on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education and Sports, Allah Mohammad Mashwani, also stated that Asghari was killed by unknown individuals and that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
So far, the motive for the killing has not been clarified.
Some media reports indicate that, following Asghari’s death, the qualification matches for the Ariana Snooker Championship Cup have been suspended.
Wahidullah Asghari had served for several years as the head of Afghanistan’s National Snooker Federation.
