PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A doctor has been killed in Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province, with one suspect arrested in connection with the murder, police official said on Monday.
Police spokesman Mawlawi Mirwais Abadali told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident occurred at around 8:00 pm on Sunday in the Sahib Baba township area near the Kandahari Bridge.
He said the deceased doctor was identified as Ghulam Ghaws, a resident of the Katabkhel area of Mohammad Agha district.
Sources said he was shot dead with a Kalashnikov rifle by unknown individuals.
Abadali added that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing and, according to initial information, has confessed to the crime.
Security officials say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
