KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) says the law on preachers (Muhtasibin) has been approved by the supreme leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) and published in the Official Gazette.
In a statement, the ministry said the law consists of a preface, three chapters, two sections and 17 articles, and its implementation will be overseen by the Ministry of Vice, Virtue and Complaints (MoVVC).
It said the law outlines the conditions for preachers, methods and tools of preaching, ethical conduct of preachers and their responsibilities.
It stated that, under the law, preachers were obliged to promote the virtues of knowledge, teach the faith and creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah, explain acts of worship, highlight the virtues of jihad and zakat and educate people on the rights of parents, children, neighbours, spouses and general women’s rights, as well as obedience to leadership, the obligation of hijab, good behaviour, mosque etiquette and other key religious matters.
The law also obliges officials of IEA, fighters, mosque imams (prayer leaders) and the general public to cooperate with preachers in their outreach activities.
