CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): A young man has been killed and three children injured in an explosion caused by unexploded ordnance in central Parwan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Police spokesman Fazal Rahim Muskanyar said the incident took place in the Barikab area of Bagram district on Tuesday afternoon.
He said the explosion occurred when a 20-year-old man attempted to dismantle a piece of unexploded ordnance, which detonated unexpectedly.
According to him, the blast killed the young man and injured three others, including two girls and one boy.
The police spokesman added that local residents and security forces transferred the injured to the 50-bed Bagram district hospital for emergency treatment.
He urged people to immediately inform security officials upon spotting any unexploded ordnance or suspicious objects in order to prevent similar incidents.
