KABUL (Pajhwok): Around 491 Afghans were repatriated this week after being released from prisons in Pakistan, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) said on Thursday.
According to the ministry, the individuals had been detained for lacking legal residency documents in Pakistan.
MoRR said 379 of the returnees entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing, while the remaining 112 returned via Spin Boldak.
It added that the group included both families and single individuals who were held due to undocumented status. After registration and receiving assistance, they were transferred to their respective areas of origin.
The ministry also noted that on 30 April, 527 Afghan refugees had similarly been released from Pakistani prisons and returned to Afghanistan.
