KABUL (Pajhwok): A man has been killed after several tourists opened fire in eastern Nuristan province, local authorities said on Sunday.
In a statement, the governor’s office said the incident occurred on Saturday in the Ashtiwi recreational area of Paron, when a number of tourists discharged firearms.
It said: “The incident took place while a local resident, Zain-ul-Salam, was irrigating his field. He was struck by a stray bullet and lost his life.”
It added those responsible for the shooting have been detained and a comprehensive legal investigation was underway. The suspects will be dealt with in accordance with Islamic law.
The governor’s office urged tourists to observe security measures and legal regulations while travelling and engaging in recreational activities in order to help prevent similar incidents.
