FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): A province-wide poppy eradication campaign has been launched in western Ghor province, police said on Sunday.
In a statement, the police headquarters said the drive had been launched in accordance with Decree No. 31 of the supreme leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), which bans the cultivation of narcotic crops.
It said poppy crops had been destroyed on more 115 acres of land in Pasaband district.
The statement added that eradication operations were underway in the Oktoba, Bayanakha, Doctork, Tajwin, Chakarbar and Izdawun areas of Pasaband district and would continue until all parts of Ghor province were cleared of poppy cultivation.
