ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Nine people have been arrested on charges of illegal excavation at archaeological sites in southwestern Nimroz province.
Mawlawi Gul Mohammad Qudrat, spokesman for the Nimroz police command, said operational units detained the suspects while they were engaged in illegal digging in the “Chehil Burj” (Forty Towers) area.
He added that a rickshaw and several excavation tools were also seized from the site.
According to him, the detainees have been handed over to the provincial Criminal Investigation Department after preliminary inquiries.
