KABUL (Pajhwok): A senior Hamas delegation led by the group’s political leader and chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya arrived in Cairo, Egypt, on Sunday for talks on the Gaza agreement, a media report said.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said the delegation’s visit was part of ongoing contacts with mediators, Al Jazeera reported.

Qassem said the talks would brief mediators on what Hamas described as “Israeli violations” and seek Israel’s commitment to the roadmap agreed with the “Board of Peace”.

The delegation is scheduled to meet Hassan Rashad, head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, the report said.

It added that the delegation includes Hamas Shura Council chief Mohammed Darwish, the group’s head abroad Khaled Meshaal, Hamas chief in the West Bank Zaher Jabarin and head of its Arab and Islamic Relations Office Basem Naim.

The visit comes amid growing disagreements over the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

According to the report, Israel has rejected the 15-point plan approved by the “Board of Peace” and made any withdrawal from the Gaza Strip conditional on what it calls the “genuine disarmament” of Hamas.
