2 local policemen join Taliban

SHIBERGHAN (PAN fighters and surrendered their weapons to them in the northern province of Jawzjan, officials said on Tuesday.

Two of the 100 local policemen in Darzab district joined rebel commander Naimatullah in the Sardara village, the district chief, Mohammad Rahimi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

However, their surrender would not affect the security situation in the district, the official said.

With the Taliban yet to comment on the surrender, resident Argash said: “The men were recruited two months ago.”
