Hundreds of Afghan refugees complete technical training in Pakistan

<p>QUETTA (<a href="/en/pan" class="glossify-link">PAN</a> have graduated from technical training in several different fields, officials said on Saturday.</p>

<p>A school called the Technical Training Center (TTC), based in Baluchistan’s capital city of Quetta, has issued certificates in carpentry, tailoring, plumbing, and automotive repair to 200 Afghan men and <a href="/en/women" class="glossify-link">women</a>.</p>

<p>Mohammad Ali, a student in the center, told Pajhwok Afghan News that before enrolling in training, he could not make enough money to support himself despite working full time.</p>

<p>“A few months ago, I enrolled in this centre, and now I can fix cars," he said.</p>

<p>Dalawar Khan, another student of the centre, said that he is a plumber and that he now has the skills to open his own business.</p>

<p>He said: "We received certificates and tools, and we also got paid 8000 Pakistani rupees a month," or about 419 Afs or $9.30 USD.</p>

<p>The graduates were all poor or disabled and have been trained in order to return home and contribute to Afghan <a href="/en/reconstruction" class="glossify-link">reconstruction</a>, according to Afghan Consul General Bahadur Khan.</p>

<p>Ali Kakar, the director of TTC, said the trainees can now work in a number of different fields across <a href="/en/afghanistan" class="glossify-link">Afghanistan</a>.</p>
