CHARIKAR Municipality player won on Saturday the first leg of a cycle race, which began from the capital city and terminated in Charikar, the capital of central Parwan province.
Karim Yaqut won the 65-kilometre race that involved 55 cyclists from four teams, Mohammad Sadiq Sadiqi, the cycling federation chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The second stage of the contest, marking Afghanistan‘s Independence Day, will involve an 85-km race between Charikar and Parakh, the capital of Panjsher province.
Sadiqi said Municipality, Maiwand, Sadiq, and Afghan National Army Clubs were participating in the event. Sadiq and Maiwand Clubs grabbed second and third positions respectively in the first stage.
