JALALABAD (PAN Bank was killed and three other people were injured in an explosion in the eastern province of Nangarhar on Saturday, officials said.
Saif-ur-Rahman was walking along with his friends early in the morning when a roadside bomb hit them in the Wazir area of Khogyani district, district chief Mohammad Hassan told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Rahman was killed and another man, named as Mohammad Amin, injured in the blast. He was a cousin of Khorshid Khogyaniwal, the former administrative head of Mohmand Dara town, and a nephew of Abdullah, the ex-district chief of Pachir Agam, Hassan said, explaining that the motive behind the killing was not yet clear.
Confirming Rahman’s death, Kabul Bank Regional Director Shafiqullah Nasrat said three people were injured as a result of the explosion.
Nearly 40 people, including the Bank’s branch manager, were killed and 90 others injured after several suicide attackers targeted the bank in the Jalalabad on Feb. 20, 2011.
