Would-be bomber among 10 killed in Helmand strikes

LASHKARGAH (PAN-led forces in southern Helmand province on Thursday, officials said.

Seven Pakistani insurgents were targeted by an ISAF aircraft in Khoshkawi area on the outskirts of Lashkargah, the provincial capital, before they could enter the city, an advisor to the governor, Abdul Wali Shamsi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

All the seven Pakistanis hailing from the lawless tribal region of Waziristan near the Afghanistan border were killed, he said, adding the airstrike was carried out on the basis of an intelligence report.

Elsewhere, a would-be suicide attacker was among three militants killed in a similar attack on a house in Malgir area of Greshk district, said the district police chief, Maj. Khadi Khan. He accused the insurgents of planning an attack on the police headquarters.
