JALALABAD (PAN): A Pajhwok Afghan News cameraman was among seven people wounded in two back-to-back bomb explosions in the eastern province of Nangarhar on Tuesday, officials said.
The blasts took place between 6am and 7am five metres from the office of Hajji Zahir Qadir, the chairman of the Law-Supporting Coalition in the Wolesi Jirga, in the first police district of the city, the deputy police chief said.
Col. Masum Hashmi told Pajhwok Afghan News two policemen were injured in the first blast. A bomb disposal team was sent to the area to defuse a second bomb, which went up as experts reached the scene, injuring a Pajhwok cameraman and two members of the team.
Seven wounded people were brought to the Jalalabad Civil Hospital, said Director of Public Health Baz Mohammad Sherzad.
Pajhwok cameraman, Babrak Amirzada, said he reached the site after performing morning prayers to make video clips and photos. “Police were present in the area and I was taking a video clip when the second bomb went off, injuring me and some other people.”
