KABUL, the organisation said.
CIME said Ahmad Quraishi had been appointed as its ambassador in recognition of his outstanding professional experience and strong commitment to media ethics.
“I congratulate Quraishi on this assignment. We look forward to supporting his efforts at furthering ethical media practices in Afghanistan.” CIME Coordinator CsillaSzabó said in a statement.
“Quraishi is a dedicated professional journalist with eight years of experience in the field,” the statement said, adding the reporter was currently leading the Afghanistan Journalists Centre (AFJC), an association working to support media professionals.
Quraishi also works for Pajhwok Afghan News (PAN), the first and largest independent news agency of the county, it said.
CIME believes that journalists together had the power to formulate and enforce a tacit code of ethics as a status quo of their profession, according to the CIME statement.
