CHICAGO (PAN.
“The summit was very important gathering for the world,” Allen told Pajhwok Afghan News on the sidelines of the 25th NATO summit in Chicago.
“The presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan will not be a threat to Iran and Pakistan,” he insisted, saying the message for the Afghan government and people was that the international community would continue long-term assistance to the country, and help in promoting good governance.
For Afghanistan’s neighbours, the message was that the international community was with Afghanistan, where peace and stability was not only for the benefit of the country but also crucial for the region and the world as a whole, explained Allen.
Commenting on NATO’s links with Pakistan, Allen said: “Relations have improved and I hope the country would allow ISAF supplies (to Afghanistan).”
