BAMYAN CITY (PAN and chairman of the Hezb-i-Wahdat, in the central province of Bamyan, an official said on Thursday.
The overnight attack was carried out at about 11pm but no casualties were reported, the deputy police chief Col. Ghulam Sakhi Nikpai, told Pajhwok Afghan News. In retaliation, security guards opened fire, forcing the gunmen.
Mohaqiq is also a member of the National Front, led by Ahmad Zia Massoud. The incident happened after he delivered a fiery speech attacking the Karzai government.
On Wednesday, at the first death anniversary of the Bamyan provincial council head, Mohammad Jawad Zahak, he criticised the government and demanded social justice for the people.
The only solution, he said, was a decentralised government system, which could resolve the current political crisis in the country.
