KADAHAR CITY (PAN Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) was inaugurated in southern Kandahar province on Thursday, a project that is expected to boost trade in the region.
The four-storey building in the Aino area of Kandahar City is the second largest behind a similar facility in western Herat province, Haji Nasrullah Zaheer, ACCI provincial chief, told to Pajhwok Afghan News.
Constructed on a 3,000 square metres of land, the building cost $2.12m (117 million afs), provided by local businessmen and ACCI.
Governor Toryalai Weesa welcomed the project as a positive step toward business development in the province. “We have set up a committee for investigating business issues. Based on its findings, the provincial government takes decisions.”
He acknowledged businessmen and investors were worried about the situation after the withdrawal of foreign troops in 2014. But he assured that no major crisis would occur, as the world community had pledged long-term assistance to Afghanistan.
