ISLAMABAD (PAN last Thursday.
In a statement released on Saturday, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected claims leveled against it and urged the Afghan government to share any information on the incident and discuss the issue with Pakistan officials before making any allegations.
The Foreign Ministry also asked Kabul to conduct an investigation on the assassination attempt on Khalid and focus on security shortcomings.
According to the statement, Pakistan promised to cooperate in the probe related to the suicide attack.
Last Thursday afternoon, a Taliban militant posing as the movement’s peace envoy managed to enter NDS guesthouse to meet Khalid and exploded the bomb believed hidden in his underwear.
Khalid suffered severe injuries and is being treated in the US-run military hospital in Bagram, a major America military base about 60 kilometres north of Kabul.
On the heels of the attack, President Hamid Karzai told Afghan media that the complex suicide attack was planned in Quetta city of Pakistan.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the brazen attack on the intelligence chief.
The condition of Khalid, a staunch anti-Taliban, is improving, according to authorities.
