JALALABAD (PAN): Two insurgents were killed, as many detained and nine others were wounded during two days of a security operation in eastern Laghman province, officials said on Friday.
A policeman was also injured during the offensive in the Alingar district, the governor’s office said in a statement.
Three police checkpoints had been established in the district to prevent the infiltration of insurgents from neighbouring Kunar province to the town, the statement said.
It also said 75 acres of land was cleared of poppy crops in the district on Thursday.
