KABUL): The Red Cross said on Wednesday it would remember a guard who was killed in the attack on its offices in the eastern city of Jalalabad a week back.
“To honor the memory of Abdul Bashir Khan, we will close all our offices across the country for one day on Thursday,” said the ICRC head of delegation in Afghanistan.
Gherardo Pontrandolfi said in a statement that the ICRC, while paying tribute to the slain staffer, would not carry out any operations on June 6.
“Our partners in Afghanistan, the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society (IFRC) will join us in this commemoration and close their offices on the same day.”
