TIRINKOT/KABUL): Six Afghan National Army (ANA) troops and 15 insurgents were killed during separate insurgency-related incidents over the past 24 hours, officials said.
Four insurgents were killed on Friday during an Afghan forces’ operation in the Zirok district of southeastern Paktia province on Friday, the National Directorate of Security (NDS), the spy service, said in a statement.
Five Afghan soldiers were killed in roadside bomb attacks in Kandahar, Ghazni and Helmand provinces, the statement added.
Officials in Kandahar said six Taliban, including a commander, were killed in a clash with police in Janabad area of Ghorak district.
The governor’s spokesman, Javed Faisal, said that a Taliban commander Mullah Zekriya was among the dead. Another three insurgents were wounded during the clash, he said.
In central Uruzgan province, five Taliban fighters were killed and eight others wounded on Friday night during a clash with police in Charchino district.
The district police chief, Wali Dad, said one policeman was also killed and another wounded during the fight.
Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed that six police were killed during the Charchino clash.
