ZARANJ (PAN insurgents ambushed his vehicle in northwestern Nimroz province on Saturday, police said.
The Khash Rud district chief, Mohammad Hashim Noorzai, was returning from Zaranj, the provincial capital, when came under attack on the Zaranj-Dilaram road in the Khosyas area of the district, provincial crime branch police chief, Col. Rahmatullah Nasir, told Pajhwok Afghan News
Noorzai and one of his guards were slightly injured in the gun attack. Two Taliban commanders were killed after police reinforcement arrived at the scene, he said.
He said the slain insurgents included a Taliban-designated district chief for Khash Rud, Mullah Fateh.
Noorzai told Pajhwok Afghan News he had reached home and his condition was stable.
