LASHKARGAH (PAN): Four insurgents were killed in a blast caused by their own bomb in the Greshk district of southern Helmand province on Saturday, an official said.
The four were planting roadside bombs in Yakhchal area when one of went off accidently in the afternoon, Helmand police chief Brig Gen Mohammad Hakim Angar told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the militants wanted to target police vehicles in the area, where an operation had been launched.
Angar added police, in close cooperation with some other security organs, had intensified efforts at countering insurgency and criminal activities in the province.
Elsewhere, residents of Marja district said three Afghan Local Police (ALP) members were killed in a militant attack on their posts on Friday night.
However, the incident could not be officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, a Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, claimed several foreign and Afghan security personnel were killed and wounded in roadside bomb attacks in Nad Ali and Musa Kala districts.
