KABUL) said on Sunday the designing of ballot papers for upcoming elections had been completed, adding its printing contract would be awarded to a publication company soon.
Noor Mohammad Noor, IEC spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the printing procedure of ballot papers would be awarded to a publication company with collaboration of United Nation Development Program (UNDP).
He said the IEC was considering printing around 13 million ballot papers for upcoming presidential and provincial council polls.
The publication company if wins the contract, will be required to ensure its printing on time, he added.
According to the constitution of Afghanistan, the second stage of elections should be held within two weeks after the official announcement of first stage of polls’ results
Abdul Jabbar Safi, head of Afghanistan Industrialist Society, said the IEC should award the contract of printing ballot papers to a local company instead.
