ASADABAD/LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least eight militants, including a notorious commander, were killed in a drone strike in eastern Kunar province, the police chief said Thursday.
Abdul Habib Sayedkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the missile attack by unmanned aircraft occurred in the Jangal Gosha area of Nari district before noon. He confirmed killing of eight militants, including a commander.
Separately, security forces claimed defusing two bombs in Lashkargah City, the capital of southern Helmand province.
Col. Abdul Ahad Chopan, provincial police spokesman, said that the bomb disposal squad defused one bomb at women bazaar while another at Kandahar bus station.
