PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): A young woman and a man were killed by unidentified gunmen in northern Baghlan province, an official said Monday.
Police officials said the pair had eloped, escaping their houses in Khinjan district. They were shot dead on their way to Bano district.
Police spokesman Javed Basharat told Pajhwok Afghan News that the killers had been identified and efforts were underway to arrest them. The victims’ bodies have been handed over to their families.
A resident of Bano district, Haji Nazar Gul, believed the two had been gunned down by their relatives.
“We saw gunmen going to a valley before we heard gunfire. On our way to the scene, we saw the bodies,” he said, adding the man wanted to marry the girl.
