KABUL (Pajhwok): In a latest development, failed presidential candidate Qutbuddin Hilal on Wednesday announced support to presidential runner Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai. Hilal had secured 2.75 percent of votes in the April 5 ballot.
At a gathering held here in Kabul, flanked by his close aides, he held series of meetings with both the frontrunners contenders and in the outcome his program was accepted by Ahmadzai.
Conducting sincere efforts for building peace, establishment of neutral High Peace Council (HPC), eliminating rampant corruption and introducing the culture of accountability were his key conditions acknowledged by the former finance minister, he added.
He said that conditions he put before Ahmadzai were based on Islamic principles.
The team led by Ahmadzai would introduce strict accountability culture, which would ensure peace, stability and development in the country, he hoped.
“I am not interested to get any position in the next administration but I want an Islamic, peaceful and developed Afghanistan,” he added.
