KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Monday rejected Dr. Abdullah Abdullah’s call for suspending its secretary Ziaul Haq Amarkhel.

At a late-night news conference on Sunday, the presidential runner had asked for Amarkhel’s suspension following allegations that he was dispatching electoral materials to the 21st district before being stopped by police.

But Amarkhel refuted the accusation as false, saying the electoral materials were being taken to polling centers that had run out of ballot papers. He called the action disrespect to independence of the commission and interference in its affairs.
