KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Security Council (NSC) on Sunday directed Afghan security forces to take effective measures to counter Pakistani interference.
Chaired by President Hamid Karzai, the meeting was briefed by ministers of interior and defence on the overall security situation in the country and Pakistani incursions into border provinces.
With regard to increasing Pakistani aggression, the participants conferred on Intelligence reports about plans for attacks on different districts of eastern Nangarhar province.
Five Pakistani nationals, allegedly leading the Taliban’s disruptive activities in Hesarak district, have been detained with sensitive documents.
According to a statement from the Presidential Palace, the council strictly ordered security forces to be fully prepared to deal with any kind of military mobilisation across the Durand Line.
The Ministry of Interior and the National Directorate of Security were entrusted with disarming irresponsible people in central Parwan province.
At the meeting, the governor of Nuristan province presented his report on the security situation and pointed out that law and order had started improving in all parts except Barg-i-Matal and Kamdesh districts.
The Council of the Ministry of National Defense, Department of Interior and Local Independent guidance to implement the recommendations of the governor of Nuristan action.
At the end of the meeting, the governor of Khost presented a report on the situation of refugees from Pakistan‘s North Waziristan Agency.
