SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Three militants and a policeman were killed and five others wounded during a clash in the Mangajik district of northern Kunduz province, a security official said on Friday.
The firefight erupted when the Taliban stormed the district centre at midnight, the provincial police chief, Brig Gen. Faqir Mohammad Jawzjani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said two policemen and three attackers were wounded in the 30-minute gunbattle. With the arrival of reinforcements, the assailants fled, leaving behind some weapons and ammunitions.
Gen Jawzjani added: The attackers, numbering over 100, fled the and left behind their blankets and shoes.” The injured policemen were evacuated to hospital.
Mohammad Halim, a resident of the district, said the two sides used heavy weapons during the clash. However, area people were not harmed, he added.
