Mohammadi asks troops to stand united

KABUL’s foes were trying to fuel divisions among its armed forces.

Speaking at graduation ceremony for around 2,000 cadets at the Military Academy in Kabul, Mohammadi said the country was in need of rock-solid unity at the present critical juncture.

Chief of Army Staff Gen. Sher Mohammad Karimi and others high-ranking officers were also present on the occasion.

The minister said armed forces were duty-bound to protect the territorial integrity of their motherland. He warned the troops that fueling ethnic differences was the agenda of the enemy that the forces should be aware of. 

Aminullah Patyani, the Military Academy commander, said 433 officers, 100 lieutenants and 1,200 soldiers graduated this year. The numbers of Afghan armed forces has reached 195,000.
