JALALABAD (Pajhwok): One person was killed in a suicide attack in the capital of eastern Nangarhar province while five Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel and 17 militants lost their lives in separate security incidents, an official said on Sunday.
One person was killed and a civilian wounded in a suicide attack that took place around 8pm Saturday night when a car suicide bomber detonated his explosives in the 4th police district of Jalalabad.
The governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News the identity of the victim remained unclear. The bomber’s identity is also yet to be established.
According to another report, five (ANA) personnel and 17 militants were killed in separate security incidents. A statement from the Ministry of Defence said the soldiers were killed in roadside bombings and clashes with militants.
It added that 17 militants were also killed and 19 others wounded during separate incidents in Ghazni, Maidan Wardak, Daikundi and Logar provinces in the past 24 hours. A depot of weapons and narcotics was also torched in the operations.
