QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): The Taliban set free six abducted schoolteachers following negotiations with tribal elders in the Qadis district of northwestern Badghis province, officials said on Friday.
A Taliban commander Mullah Izzatullah had kidnapped the six teachers from the Takak area. Two of them were released last night and the remaining four were set free today (Friday), said Mohammad Qayum Angar, the district deputy police chief.
He said the releases came after hectic efforts by tribal elders. However, the Taliban have so far said nothing about the abduction saga.
