MAZAR-E-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Construction work on 38 development projects in northern Sar-i-Pul and central Maidan Wardak provinces has been launched, benefitting thousands of families, officials said on Monday.
Eight projects in Sar-i-Pul province were about to be completed and ready for formal use, said Farid Ahmad Sadat, the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) director in the northern zone.
He said eight projects completed under NSP would soon be handed over to the departments concerned.
At least 1,213 families would be benefited following completion of work on Masjid Sukh Karez, Masjid Bangi Karez, Zanbur Khan Karez and Gosfandi district Karez.
In Maidan Wardak, work on 30 different projects was launched at a cost of 34 million afghanis. Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, said the schemes were underway in Jalrez and Khasa Awal Behsud districts.
The projects, he said, were launched by the Ministry of Rural Development under the NSP programme. The completion of the projects will facilitate a total of 3,600 families.
