Taliban-designated district chief detained

GHAZNI CITY (PAN-designated chief for Ajristan district has been arrested in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Tuesday.

Mullah Abdul Ali was captured during an overnight operation in Abbaskhel area of the district, the 203rd Thunder Military Corps commander said.

Col. Daud Shah Wafadar told Pajhwok Afghan News that a motorbike and some weapons were recovered from Ali’s house. Civilians and Afghan soldiers suffered no casualties during the operation.

But a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said the soldiers had detained a civilian with no links to the movement.
