KABUL (Pajhwok): Intelligence personnel seized an explosives-packed vehicle in central Maidan Wardak province and a bomb blast killed one policeman in Herat, officials said on Saturday.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesperson for the Maidan Wardak government, told Pajhwok Afghan News a major terror attack had been averted with the seizure of the bomb-rigged vehicle.
He said the vehicle was captured by National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives in the Syedabad district. Khogyani added intelligence personnel had been looking for the vehicle for the last 10 days after receiving a tip-off.
Meanwhile, officials in Herat said a policeman was killed and two civilians were wounded in a roadside bombing in Obe district.
The explosion hit a police patrol in Deh Sabz area, police spokesman Abdul Rauf Ahmadi said. Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, a Taliban spokesman, said the group was behind the attack.
