KABUL (Pajhwok): A multi-year, multi-million dollar deal was recently concluded to enable a Kabul-based ice-making firm to increase its bagged ice production capacity and provide jobs to Afghans.
This international business venture between International Ice Bagging Systems, LLC (IIBS), a Chicago-based business, which manufactures the Eco-Ice System, and Afghan company AZ Corporation was facilitated by the US Foreign Commercial Service at the US Embassy in Kabul.
A statement from the US Embassy quoted senior Foreign Commercial Service Officer Walter Koenig describing IIBS as, “Just the sort of company needed in Afghanistan today.”
He said companies like IIBS brought modern efficiencies and American technology to a rapidly emerging market. “There is no limit to the potential for a company like IIBS in Afghanistan.”
AZ Corporation’s Chief Operations Officer, Abdul Majeed Zhian, commenting on the venture said “Aria Water Plant is excited to launch our new line of Aria Mountain Ice made from the same pristine mountain water used in our famous Aria Mountain Spring Water.”
He said IIBS’s new “Eco-Ice System’s” technology would enable them to meet the demands of customers in Afghanistan with a safe, economical, state of the art bagged ice solution. “
According to IIBS founder and CEO, David Makowski, “IIBS is thrilled and proud to be able to bring this technology to the people of Afghanistan and enable the AZ Corporation to grow its business with the Eco-Ice System”.
The Eco-Ice System, which now holds 29 patents, is the only completely automated bagged ice production and bagging system that can be purchased or leased for world-wide use.
It is also the only fully National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) certified bagged ice production system ensuring that the user can produce clean, pure bagged ice of the highest quality.
