19 projects executed in Kunduz town

KUNDUZ CITY: (Pajhwok): Benefitting thousands of families, 19 development projects have been completed in the Imam Sahib district of northern Kunduz province, an official said on Saturday.

The projects included asphalting of 17 kilometers of roads, the construction of 15 culverts, an 80-meter retaining wall and others, according to Amanuddin Quraishi, the district chief.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News hundreds of local residents had been engaged on the more than 19 million afghanis worth projects, with approximately 36000 families benefiting directly and indirectly.

A resident, Abdul Azim, said residents had to face many problems due to a rundown condition of the road. The road was asphalted as part of the projects.

“ A six-kilometer road has been asphalted in our village and it seems our problem has been solved,” he added.

Inaugurating the projects, Deputy Governor Hamdullah Danishi said: “The inhabitants of the province had little access to services in the past, patients would die on the way to hospital and their agricultural goods would not reach market in-time, but now they find access to many facilities.”

He urged residents of the Imam Sahib district to preserve the new projects and utilise them in a proper manner.
