JALALABAD (PAJHWOK): Seven militants, including their commander, were killed in a drone strike in the Lalpora district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.
Col. Muhammad Ayub Hussainkhel, a senior border police official in eastern zone, told Pajhwok Afghan News the unmanned aircraft struck the insurgents in Mechmigi area.
He confirmed seven fighters including Nazir Afridi were eliminated in the strike. However, he said nothing about the nationalities of the rebels.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, also verified the attack but had no details to share. The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
