GHAZNI CITY (PAN fighter have been killed in two seperate incidnets of voilence in soutehern Ghazni province, officials said on Saturday.
A police officer and a fighter were killed after a group of insurgents attacked the district headquarters of Rashidan on Friday night, provincial police chief, Col. Zarawar Zahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Two ohters fighters were injured and a notorious insurgent commander, Salih Mohammad, was detained as a result of the clash, he said.
The detainee had confessed to killing four people on the charge of spying for governemt. He said the execution was carried out in complaince with orders he recieved from his his commander. Mohammad was shown to journalists.
Separately, a policeman on foot patrol was killed on Saturday when a morter shell hit him in Khwaja Omary district, the district chief, Qasim Disiwal, said.
Seperately, a policemanm, who joined the Taliban three years ago in Deh Yak district, had surrendered to the authorites. The foremer policeman, Dost Mohammad, was also shown to media outlets.
Mohammad said he joined the insurgents three years ago when they were too strong compared to government forces.
“ I handed over my gun to the Taliban, I went to Pakistan, where I opened a tailoring shop. I’m loyal to the governenent and wants to rejoin the police,” he said.
Deh Yak district chief, Fazal Ahmad, thanked Dost Mohammad, and asked militants to lay down theri weapons and join the peace process.
