JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Thirty-three fighters of the Islamic State (Daesh) group have been killed in eastern Nangarhar province, an official claimed on Saturday.
The insurgents were killed in airstrikes over the past 24 hours in Achin district, a Daesh stronghold near the Pakistan border, the governor’s spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Attaullah Khogyani said the operation, involving ground troops and air force personnel, left at least four Daesh members wounded in different areas of the restive district.
The security forces suffered no casualties during the clashes that happened in Karkana and Tareeli areas of Achin, which is inaccessible for journalists and ordinary citizens.
