KABUL (Pajhwok): Kabul police on Sunday paraded before media men 400 alleged criminals they had arrested with some weapons including 21 BM1 rockets.
The police said the rockets aimed at Kabul City were in a ready-to-fire mode when captured, preventing a potential terrorist attack.
The suspects had been detained from different parts of the central capital in connection with murders, kidnappings, robberies, drug smuggling and other crimes.
Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahman Rahimi, the Asmai zone police headquarters chief, told reporters the detained criminals included ringleaders namely Najibullah, Niamatullah, Farhad, Mustafa and Mohammad Ghaus.
He said some the detainees were involved in bank robberies and looting traders at the Sara-i-Shazada.
He said the group would use to chase individuals taking cash from Sara-i-Shazada or banks and would rob them on the way by applying many tactics including offering intoxicating food.
According to Rahimi, 21 BM1 rockets, 41 other weapons including heavy and light have been recovered from the criminals during their arrest.
He said three individuals had been arrested for selling alcoholic drinks in the sixth municipal district. about 17,000 empty bottles were also recovered from them.
The police official said the three individuals had been earlier warned, but this time they were arrested red-handed preparing the banned product.
Earlier in the week, police had arrested two persons and recovered 13 weapons and a binocular from their possession.
