KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Authority (NPA) has approved 10 contracts worth two billion afghanis, rejected one and asked review of another, President Ashraf Ghani’s office said on Sunday.
A National Procurement Commission meeting, chaired by President Ashraf Ghani, was held Saturday evening at the Presidential Palace here to review important contracts involving big sums of money.
Yama Yari, director-general of NPA, briefed the session on theMemorandum of Understanding(MoU) on cooperationbetween the the Authority and the Ministry of Interior’s anti-crimedepartment. He said both sides would work for preventing corruption on projects.
The NPA rejected the proposed contract for the first phase of the 23 kilometresDoshi-Bamyan roadfor its failure to meet legal requirements. The NPA ordered a re-announcementof bidding.
Meanwhile, the meeting decided on reviewing the procurement project for equipping the Ministry of Defence (MoD)with computers.
While approving the project for the activation of a pre-construction service factory, the participants hailed the initiative of the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) and economiccounseling by the Presidential Palace with regard to project’s implementation.
The MoUDwas tasked with comprehensively monitoring ofproject implementation. The meeting was also attended by somemembers of NPA, transparency observers from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan’s defence panel, anti-corruption parliamentary caucus and the Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan (CSTC-A) of Resolute Support mission.
